Beyond the Basics Knitting
Beyond the Basics reinforces the fundamentals you learned in Learner's Permit to Knit, and teaches you new skills to get you ready for the rest of your knitting career!
We will be trying something new for the July classes. We will be teaching both shawls that have been offered in this class. You have a couple of choices, you can start one and listen to all the instructions for the other one or you can start both of them.
In the last class, Karen will also guide you through how to identify and pick up a dropped stitch, how to rip back several rows without tears, and how to tell if your stitches are oriented correctly.
You'll come out of class armed with all the skills you need to move on to our other advanced beginner classes like Building Blocks, the Novice Sweater, and Socks 101.
SUPPLIES
For the Coffee Shop Wrap:
Pattern: Coffee Shop Wrap by Alexandra Tavel
Yarn: 5 different colors of DK or Worsted weight yarn. You will need about 186 yards per color, for a total of 930 yards. LambShoppe's samples are made in Knerdstring DK and Plymouth Merino Worsted.
Needles: Size 32" US 10 circular needles
Other: Locking stitch markers, tapestry needle, scissors.
For the Sunday Morning Wrap:
Pattern: The Sunday Morning Wrap by Espace Tricot.
Yarn: 4 skeins of Juniper Moon Moonshine or Malabrigo Rios, or any Worsted weight yarn.
Needles: US 8 32" circular needles
Other: Locking stitch markers, tapestry needle, scissors.
HOMEWORK
Purchase your chosen pattern at LambShoppe or through Ravelry and bring to class.
Have one skein of yarn wound before class for the cast on.
