If you are new to sweater making or just want to refine your sweater making skills…this class is for you.  We will discuss choosing the right size, ease, choosing the right yarn, how to determine your gauge and swatch for the best outcome, and then go on to knit a top down pullover or cardigan. The patterns chosen are a great entry to sweater making without seaming. 

The sweater includes bust sizing from 31.5” up to 59” including ease.

Pick either the pullover or the cardigan pattern.

Required skills: This is NOT a Learn to Knit class. It's advanced beginner. 

You must come with basic skills but you do not have to have made a sweater previously. Required are casting on, knitting, purling, knitting in the round. If you have completed Beyond the Basics at our shop you can move onto this class.  

Supplies

During our first class we will be discussing which yarn to choose for your sweater so you should not buy yarn prior to class. While the chunky pattern calls for a US size 10 and a 10.5/11 and the pullover a US 9 and 10 you may find in swatching you have to adjust needles to get the right fit and size. We will discuss required needles in the class as well.  

There are 2 pattern choices: Novice Sweater is a worsted/aran weight yarn or Novice Cardigan in a chunky weight yarn. 

Notions needed: stitch markers, tapestry needle, and scissors.
