Spooky Hat 2024

In this three-session class, you will learn to design and knit a stranded colorwork hat with Rachel. You will be able to choose from three different options for the hat this year.

1. The 2022 Spooky Hat by Rosie Posie Knit Co.
2. The 2023 Spooky Hat: Boneyard Sweethearts by Stephanie Lotven (Fingering or DK version)
3. The 2024 Spooky Hat: The Monster Doodle by Pacific Knit Co. 

Regardless of which hat you choose, you'll learn to read a colorwork chart and two-handed stranded colorwork knitting. 

Class Materials:



Option 1: The Spooky Hat by Rosie Posie Knit Co.
Yarn- MC: One skein of worsted weight yarn in the color of your choice
CCs: Three colors of worsted weight yarn in contrasting colors.
Kits will be available beginning September 3rd



Option 2: Boneyard Sweethearts by Stephanie Lotven
Yarn- Two contrasting colors of either fingering or DK weight yarn.
Kits will be available beginning September 3rd



Option 3: The Monster Doodle by Pacific Knit Co. 

Yarn - One 50 g DK skein of a main color + 2-6 DK mini skeins in contrasting colors. Rachel recommends Theodora's Pearls DK minis and/or Hikoo Simplicity. 
Other- The Monster Doodle Deck

Kits for all three options will be available to purchase beginning on September 3rd. Kits will include the project yarn, a spooky project bag, your pattern or Doodle deck, festive stitch stoppers, stitch markers, and a couple of other goodies!

Needles: Pattern dependent 

Tapestry needle, stitch markers (about 6)


Homework: 

Before class, please purchase your materials (pre-order a kit or choose your own colors and buy the pattern) Then, cast on in your main color and complete one inch of 1x1 ribbing before class.

If you are doing the Monster Doodle option, begin thinking about your design and pull out the cards you like best/put them in the order you'd like. Complete one inch of 1x1 ribbing in whichever color you'd like.
