Growing and blowing in the wind…..Dancing Leaves. Not your everyday pattern. No seriously, don't freak out when you see this thing!  This class will walk you through this incredibly unique project.  This stunning knit uses short rows to create a breathtaking leaf effect.  Master a new technique while creating a show stopping shawl.  

Students taking the class should be proficient in the following: CO, BO, k, p, k2tog, kfb  (knit in front and back increase).  All other stitches and techniques will be taught in class. 

This pattern uses short rows.  If students have a favorite method of doing short rows, I encourage them to use it.  If they do not have a favorite, or if they are unfamiliar with short rows, I will be teaching my favorite method, Japanese Pinned Short Rows.

Supplies

Pattern:  Dancing Leaves by Sue Fischer (available on Ravelry, please purchase before class starts)

Yarn:  Background Color – 3 skeins Sueno by Hikoo

          Leaf Color – 1 skein Noro Silk Garden Sock

Needle: US #6 *

Note: this pattern does not specify a gauge.  If you know you are a tighter knitter and routinely have to go up a needle size, do so here.  Conversely, if you know you are a loose knitter and routinely have to go down a needle size, please consider doing so.

In addition to the materials listed above, I recommend the following:

Paper and pencil (for taking notes)

1 or 2 stitch markers

Coil-less safety pins or Pear stitch markers (for short rows)

Highlighter tape (to keep track of your place in the pattern)

Tapestry needle (for weaving in tails)

Crochet Hook size G (for picot border on the lower edge)


Homework or Additional Info

Purchase Materials and have 1 ball of the background color (Sueno) wound before class.

Cast on 18 stitches of the background color (Sueno) and knit one row before first class.
