This is the perfect class to follow our Learner’s Permit to Crochet class. This is a basic, top-down, double crochet beanie that you can customize with your favorite colors. Please come on in and choose 3 colors of Cascade 128 Superwash so you can stripe your hat and make a contrasting brim. (You’ll have leftover yarn to make another hat too!) The Chunky Striped Beanie pattern has a child’s size and several adult sizes to choose from.
Amanda will teach the magic circle, increasing stitches to create a flat circle, crocheting in joined rounds with changing colors, basic hat sizing, front loop/back loop crochet stitches and adding ribbing.
Supplies: Cascade 128 Superwash (samples are in 3 colors: #822 Pumpkin, #871 White and # 1959 Deep Sapphire), 5.0mm/H hook hook, 6.0mm/J hook, tape measure, tapestry needle, scissors.
Homework or Additional Info: HW: Measure the head circumference (around where the brim of a beanie will fall) of the person you are going to make this for.

Instructor Bio: | Amanda: Amanda is our newest crochet enthusiast at Lambshoppe. She has been knitting for 17 years and taught herself how to crochet about 10 years ago. Amanda has been focused more on crochet rather than knitting lately and is looking forward to teaching a Lerner?s Permit to Crochet class later this month. She hopes we can get a Beyond the Basics Crochet class going in October and then move on to some crochet projects as well. Amanda moved to Denver in 2007 and has worked as a schoolteacher as well as a ski instructor here in Colorado. Amanda loves to exercise in Wash Park and spend time with her kitty Oasis, dogs Onyx and Dusty, and her husband Bret. Amanda?s new niece Fiona is the newest target for knit, and especially crochet, projects this year. |
