Nurmilintu Shawl - Lace 101
Ready to try your hand at lace? This one skein shawl project is a great place to start. It has sections of garter stitch and lace. The best part is that the wrong side of lace is just knit stitches, so that makes this a friendly introduction to lace knitting.
You will learn how to read a lace chart, picot bind off, and how to place a lifeline

Needles:
Recommends between a US 4 and US 6.
If you are a tight knitter you may want to start with a US 5 or US 6

Ruler to measure gauge
Scissors
Waste yarn or dental floss for lifeline. If using yarn, you will need a thin, smooth yarn, like sock yarn, for a lifeline.

| Instructor Bio: | Gerry has been with the Lamb Shoppe for about 3 years and a knitting instructor for 2 years. Sweater knitting is probably her most favorite knitting activity, but she is well versed in hats, mitts, and shawls. Gerry has spent a lot of time reading and learning about fit, yarn qualities, and gauge. Her strength lies in selecting the right size in patterns and what yarn best fits what you are looking for in your garment. The Novice Sweater class has been well received by patrons of the Lamb Shoppe. She also likes to focus on techniques and skills such as 2 at a time mitt knitting with magic loop, another of her favorite classes. Gerry strives to foster a sense of community and wants to support her students in elevating their knitting knowledge and skills. |
