The Doodle Cowl
Come join Rachel for a three class intro to the world of Jamie Lomax’s Doodle Cowls. These fun cowls are colorful and expressive, and best of all, totally customizable.
Participants will choose a Doodle Cowl pattern by Jamie Lomax as we discuss construction and design. No matter which pattern you choose, you will learn to knit stranded colorwork in the round AND you will learn how to design your own colorwork patterns to plug into anything at all!
This workshop is designed to give you all the tools you will need to get started on your cowl, including design, casting on, and working stranded colorwork using a chart.
Supplies:
- To be discussed in class, depending on student’s choice of pattern. In general we will be using either Sport, DK, or light worsted weight yarn. You will decide how many colors in class. Needles will depend on the yarn used. To be safe, bring size 16" US 5s and 6s if you have them. Most students choose the DK version. Yarn must be purchased at LambShoppe.
- Tapestry needle, scissors, locking stitch markers, and tape measure
Homework: Look through Jamie Lomax’s Doodle Cowl patterns at Pacificknitco.com to get a nice idea of the possibilities, but don’t buy one quite yet! Or, if you're feeling really excited, buy her book, it has everything you could possibly want!
