Embroidered Mitts
Join Tawnya to learn how to embellish fingerless mitts with embroidered flowers!
In the first class, you'll get your measurements sorted and begin to knit or crochet a pair of fingerless mitts to fit a specific set of hands. Then, in the second class, you'll pick a floral pattern and embroider it onto your mitts. All with Tawnya's support and instruction!
New! You can choose a yarn pack to purchase when you register. Or you can pick out your own color combos. (Please be aware that reds and dark pinks are not always colorfast, but the colors we've picked out have been tested and work well on a light-colored background.)
We have put together yarn packs so you can make these mitts in Paper (white, shown above) or Linen (light taupe, not shown). Next, choose from Zinnia (above, top) or Cornflower (above, bottom) for your embroidery palette. Available for store pick-up only.
Supplies:
2 balls Rowan Cotton Cashmere for knitting or crocheting mitts
1 ball each 4 colors of Happy Cotton
Knitters: Two 4.0mm (US 6) 16" circular needles
Crocheters: 4.0mm crochet hook and 3.5mm crochet hook
A sharp darning needle
6 locking stitch markers
Knitters only: 2 ring stitch markers
*Knitting, crochet and embroidery patterns will be provided by Tawnya during class.
Homework to be completed before first class:
1) Knit a 4x4 inch swatch in stockinette or crochet a 4x4 inch swatch in single crochet. Do not cut your yarn because we'll unravel it after we determine gauge and use it in the mitts.
2) On a piece of paper, trace around your hand and wrist with fingers closed, thumb out. Bring it to class.
We will use both to determine mitt fit.
