Granny Square Extravaganza!
Expand your novice crochet skills with Granny Squares! We will start with a basic Granny square (ch and double crochet stitches only) and try 3-5 different patterns that might include crocheting in joined rows, working a mitered square, puff and cluster stitches, working into back loops only and stitches 2 rows below.
This class will focus on reading/following crochet charts and practicing new stitches! The 60 Quick Grannny Squares book includes charts and written instructions. The Granny Square Card Deck includes charts only. Choose your challenge!
Supplies:
Recommended Yarn: Worsted/Aran weight yarn in 4-6 colors (Sample squares were made with Simpliworsted)
Hook: Crochet hook in size: H/5.0mm or I/5.5mm or J/6.0mm (Sample squares were made with an H/5.0mm hook)
Pattern: The Granny Square Card Deck, 60 Quick Grannny Squares or other granny square patterns
Other: Locking stitch markers, tapestry needle, scissors

Instructor Bio: | Amanda has been knitting since 2005 and taught herself how to crochet (after a short lesson from Mom) in 2012. She's been focused more on crochet rather than knitting lately and loves teaching beginners in the Learner's Permit class as well as anyone who drops into LambShoppe. Amanda moved to Denver in 2007 and has worked as a schoolteacher as well as a ski instructor here in Colorado. Amanda loves to exercise in Wash Park and spend time with her pets and her husband Bret. Amanda's nieces are the newest targets for her yarn projects right now. |
