Charlotte's Web of Cables

Improve your cabling skills - or learn how to knit cables - making this beautiful little scarf that is a great addition to any wardrobe, or a great gift for someone special.
Skills learned include: several different types of cables (7 different cables!), iCord edging, increase & decrease stitches in pattern, reading a chart (there are also written instructions), life lines, and cabling with and without a cable needle.
Supplies:
- Pattern: Charlotte Scarf by Lisa Hannes available on Ravelry
-
1 or 2 skeins of DK or worsted yarn, depending on desired length (about 200 yards/100 Gms). Shop sample was made with 1 skein of Berroco Ultra Alpaca.
-
Yarn ideas: Ultra Alpaca, Ella Rae Cashmerino Aran, Ella Rae Cozy Soft, Cascade 220, Herd of Cats DK.
-
A solid or tonal color is best for this scarf. A “busy”, multicolored yarn will distract from the textured cables.
-
You need about 200 yards (1 skein) to make the scarf as written (37 inches X 4.75 inches). If you want to make it longer, please purchase a 2nd skein of yarn. We will be weighing our yarn and adjusting the number of repeats to ensure we don’t run out.
-
5mm (US 8) circular knitting needles, 16-24 inch. Straight needles are also acceptable.
-
Cable needle appropriate for your yarn
-
Locking stitch markers are highly recommended
-
Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
Homework: Bring all your supplies and the printed (or digital version) of the pattern to class. You will need to work on your project between classes.
