Novice Colorwork Sweater - Autumn Alpine

In this class you will knit a sweater with stranded color work using 2 colors in sport weight yarn. The pattern is Autumn Alpine by Caitlyn Hunter. Autumn Alpine is a midweight sweater with Scandinavian inspired colorwork and added detail at the collar, cuffs, and hem. The sweater is seamless and knit from the top down with a few short rows for enhanced fit and shaping.
Techniques you will learn are choosing colors for your sweater, swatching for colorwork, Wrap and Turn short rows, stranded color work, and how to read a color work chart.
Pattern: Autumn Alpine - Caitlyn Hunter
Supplies:
Yarns
- Main Color - Sport weight or light DK. Amount for your size. If you wish to make your sweater longer you may need additional yarn than suggested.
Suggested yarn - Cascade Heritage 6, Sueno, Ella Rae Cashmereno Sport, Juniper Moon Moonshine Fine. Ella Rae Eco Tweed (Eco Tweed should only be used for the main color).
- Contrasting Color - Sport weight or light DK. Suggested yarn - Spincycle Dyed in the Wool, Urth Spiral Grain Sport, or any of the yarns above.
To ensure you have chosen a truly contrasting yarns it is helpful to take a picture of the yarns side by side and apply a black and white filter.

Needles: Ribbing US 3; Main US 4. You will need a US 3 with a 16” cable to start at the neckline. You will also need a US 3 with a 32” cable for the bottom ribbing.
The needles are suggested, you may need a different size to get gauge.
Notions: Stitch markers, scrap yarn to hold the stitches for the sleeves, scissors, and tapestry needle.
HOMEWORK TO BE COMPLETED PRIOR to CLASS:
Swatch 3" with larger needle using the body color yarn. This sweater is knit in the round and such you need to use a technique to swatch in the round. If you find you are not on gauge during this swatching you should consider changing your needle size.

--Cast on 30 stitches for swatching
--Swatch at least 3"
--Do not bind off your swatch and bring to the first class.
