THE KIT
Cindy made a Cygnus Cowl and we just love how Marla and Sami play so well together in this cowl! Kits include a printed copy of the pattern and 1 hank of Sami & 1 hank of Marla. Just add needles! (16" US 4 & US 6 recommended)
THE PATTERN
Cygnus Cowl: This “doughnut” cowl has no wrong side. It begins with a solid area of one color, then changes to a small geometric stranded pattern for awhile, then moves to the other color on its own, and finally repeats the stranded pattern. The solid areas give the eye a place to rest as well as highlighting each yarn individually. This cowl is started with a provisional cast-on and knit in the round, making a long tube. When complete, the two ends of the tube are brought together and grafted, creating a seamless closure. 26” finished circumference x 7½” deep
THE YARNS
From Manos del Uruguay, Marla and Sami are a pair of sister yarns. Marla is made from 2 strands of lighter-weight yarn that have been dyed separately and then plied together. When worked, Marla creates a marled fabric, where the colors are uniquely distributed. We've chosen high-contrast colors of Marla with a coordinating Sami semi-solid. Sami is spun of the same fiber and to the same weight as Marla, though it is dyed after plying. The yarn has a delightfully springy structure and tonal hand-dyed colors. 100g/273 yards; 100% superwash merino wool; Machine wash gentle, dry flat
